Adam Dietrich

I have had a passion for telling stories as long as I can remember.  While studying Documentary Journalism and Film Studies at the University of Missouri, I directed my first film, Concerned Student 1950 with the help of the incredible production team at Field of Vision, and some of my brilliant colleagues at the University of Missouri.

During my junior year of college, Concerned Student 1950 premiered at the True False Film Fest and was released online, gathering media attention on a national level and later going on to tour at film festivals around the world.  My second film A Conversation Between Parents won the Jury Award for Intimate Access at the first annual Stronger than Fiction Film Festival.

In 2017, immediately following my graduation from the Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism, I went to Bisbee, AZ to work on Robert Greene’s 5th feature film, Bisbee ‘17.  Since then I have been living and working in New York City where I freelance on film, TV, and commercial shoots with a focus in production and technical department work.

I grew up in California and studied Documentary Film at the University of Missouri where Adam and I met. I have always been compelled to capture images of people and built my first pinhole camera when I was eight years old. Since then, I have ardently fallen for my work in the camera department side of the documentary film industry.

I was recently the First Assistant Camera on Robert Greene’s fifth film Bisbee ‘17, which premiered at Sundance in the US Documentary Competition.

I made my first film Roxana this year which won the Jury Award for Storytelling at The Stronger than Fiction Film Festival and was licensed by Newsy for their documentary platform.

I recently graduated and am currently freelancing in Brooklyn in the electrical department and as a camera operator.
